ASP® / CSP® Coaching
Prepare for ASP® and CSP® Certification with Safety Catch
Advance your safety career with structured coaching for the Associate Safety Professional® (ASP®) and Certified Safety Professional® (CSP®) examinations.
The ASP and CSP credentials are awarded by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals (BCSP), USA, and are internationally recognised professional certifications for safety, health and environmental practitioners.
Safety Catch’s ASP/CSP Coaching Programme is designed to help candidates convert their professional safety knowledge into the technical understanding, analytical ability, calculation skills and examination competence required to approach the BCSP examinations with confidence.
Our coaching goes beyond simply teaching theory. Candidates are guided through the examination blueprint, technical concepts, numerical problems, application-based questions, exam strategy, practice questions and systematic revision.
The Associate Safety Professional® (ASP®) certification is designed for safety practitioners who demonstrate knowledge across a broad range of safety, health and environmental disciplines and satisfy BCSP's education and professional-experience requirements.
The Certified Safety Professional® (CSP®) is an advanced professional safety credential intended for experienced practitioners who have responsibilities involving safety leadership, risk management, safety management systems, hazard control, incident investigation and organisational safety performance.
For many safety professionals, ASP serves as one pathway towards meeting the qualifying-credential requirement for CSP, although BCSP recognises other qualifying credentials as well. Eligibility and certification decisions are made solely by BCSP.
Safety Catch's coaching programme focuses on four areas simultaneously:
Technical Knowledge
Build and strengthen the safety, health, environmental, engineering, management and risk-management knowledge covered by the applicable BCSP examination blueprint.
Problem-Solving Ability
Develop confidence in mathematical calculations, exposure calculations, statistics, physics, risk analysis and other quantitative questions relevant to the examination.
Application Skills
Learn to interpret workplace situations and select the most appropriate control, management or professional response instead of relying only on memorisation.
Examination Strategy
Practise question interpretation, elimination techniques, time management and decision-making under examination conditions.
The objective is not merely to cover the syllabus—it is to help candidates think and answer like competent safety professionals.
Professional certification preparation can help experienced safety practitioners systematically strengthen gaps in knowledge that may have developed when working within specialised industries or job roles.
Safety Catch coaching helps candidates consolidate concepts across areas such as risk management, occupational health, industrial hygiene, fire and emergency management, environmental management, safety management systems, human factors, training and professional practice.
Candidates also gain a structured study plan, disciplined preparation methodology and repeated exposure to examination-style problems rather than approaching the examination through unstructured self-study alone.
This programme is suitable for safety professionals planning to pursue an ASP or CSP credential and who want structured support before attempting the BCSP examination.
It is particularly relevant to HSE Engineers, Safety Engineers, HSE Officers, Safety Managers, HSE Managers, EHS Professionals, Safety Consultants, Auditors, Project Safety Professionals and experienced practitioners seeking internationally recognised professional certification.
Candidates should verify that they meet the applicable BCSP eligibility requirements before applying for the certification examination.
ASP® Eligibility – General Requirements
Minimum 1 Year SH&E Experience
Under BCSP’s current requirements, an ASP applicant must generally have qualifying higher education and at least one year of professional SH&E experience, with at least 50% of that experience involving preventative, professional-level safety, health and environmental duties.
BCSP currently accepts a bachelor’s degree in any field or an eligible associate degree in safety, health or environment meeting its specified academic requirements. Candidates must then satisfy BCSP’s application requirements and pass the ASP examination.
Important: Eligibility rules may change. Candidates should confirm their individual eligibility directly with BCSP before registering for the examination.
CSP® Eligibility – General Requirements
The CSP is intended for experienced safety professionals.
BCSP currently requires CSP applicants to have qualifying education, the required professional SH&E experience and a BCSP-approved qualifying credential before attempting the CSP examination.
The current experience requirement is a minimum of four years of professional SH&E experience, with at least 50% involving preventative, professional-level safety duties with sufficient breadth and depth.
Because education obtained outside the United States may be subject to equivalency requirements, candidates should verify their eligibility directly through BCSP.
ASP® Coaching – Examination Content
Safety Catch’s ASP coaching programme is aligned with the current ASP11 Examination Blueprint.

CSP preparation requires a strong ability to apply professional judgement. Candidates must understand not only workplace hazards, but also areas such as Prevention through Design, process safety, organisational performance, management systems, leadership, finance, project management, risk analysis, emergency management and occupational-health principles.
Our ASP/CSP Coaching Methodology
Learn → Practise → Analyse → Improve → Prepare
Safety Catch uses a structured examination-preparation methodology.
Candidates first develop conceptual clarity in each examination domain. Technical subjects and calculations are explained progressively so that candidates understand the underlying principles rather than memorising answers.
Concept learning is followed by topic-based questions and numerical practice. Faculty discussions focus not only on identifying the correct response but also on understanding why competing answers may be incorrect.
As preparation progresses, candidates undertake mixed-domain question practice, timed exercises and mock-style assessments. Performance is reviewed to identify weaker areas, after which focused revision and additional practice are undertaken.
This creates a continuous improvement cycle throughout the coaching programme.
Special Focus on Numerical and Analytical Questions
Calculations are often an important concern for candidates preparing for professional safety certification examinations.
Safety Catch provides guided practice in relevant areas such as occupational exposure, noise, ventilation, statistics, physics, fall protection, fire and environmental calculations, risk, financial analysis and other quantitative concepts included within the applicable examination blueprint.
The focus is on understanding the formula, logic, units, interpretation and practical application behind each calculation.
Exam-Oriented Question Practice
Knowing a safety subject and answering a certification examination question are not always the same skill.
Candidates are therefore trained to identify:
- question intent,
- critical information,
- technical distractors,
- most appropriate versus merely acceptable answers,
- risk-based priorities,
- management-system logic, and
- professional decision-making principles.
Practice progressively moves from individual topics to integrated, examination-style situations.
Mock Examination and Performance Review
Mock examinations help candidates assess whether they can apply their knowledge under realistic time constraints.
Performance reviews can be used to identify:
strong domains, weak domains, recurring errors, calculation difficulties, knowledge gaps and areas requiring additional revision.
Candidates can then concentrate their study effort where it will have the greatest impact.
ASP® or CSP® – Which Path Is Right for You?
The appropriate certification depends on your education, professional experience, existing credentials and career stage.
ASP may be appropriate for professionals who satisfy its eligibility criteria and wish to demonstrate broad professional safety knowledge or progress towards CSP.
CSP is designed for professionals who meet the more advanced eligibility and qualifying-credential requirements and who are ready to demonstrate higher-level application of safety principles, programme management and risk-management competence.
Safety Catch can help candidates understand the certification pathways; however, BCSP remains the sole authority for determining examination and certification eligibility.
Why Choose Safety Catch for ASP/CSP Coaching?
Safety Catch combines professional safety training experience with practical exposure to real workplaces, projects and safety-management challenges.
The ASP/CSP coaching approach is designed around:
- Blueprint-Based Preparation – coaching mapped to the current BCSP examination domains rather than generic safety training.
